The Carabinieri of the provincial command and the 12th Sicilia regiment carried out a large-scale control operation in the Zen district of Palermo. The military thoroughly searched the streets of the neighborhood, identifying and subjecting 125 people and 52 vehicles to inspection. Many violations of the traffic code were contested, resulting in fines totaling around 20,000 euros. 8 driver’s licenses were revoked and 5 vehicles were impounded. Illegal constructions and closures in the common areas of residential buildings were also checked. In particular, with the assistance of technicians from Enel, 14 cases of electricity theft were identified and contested, carried out through dangerous and precarious unauthorized connections to the grid. Additionally, 24 people were reported for squatting. During the operations, 2 people were reported for contempt of a public official.
