17 young people in possession of drugs have been reported on the Aeolian Islands

In the Aeolian Islands, there is a drug alarm. During a blitz by the Carabinieri of Lipari and Vulcano, 17 young people were reported and charged. The operation was carried out in collaboration with the Milazzo company.

The Carabinieri have set up extraordinary control services throughout the Aeolian archipelago. Patrols and checkpoints have been set up, even at night, aimed at preventing and combating crimes, including predatory crimes, drug use and trafficking, violations of the highway code, and illicit conduct that may jeopardize the safety of citizens.

During road checks, the military checked more than 360 people and about 250 vehicles, issuing numerous violations, including infractions that endanger the safety of motorists and pedestrians. Regarding crimes related to road traffic, the Carabinieri of Vulcano reported – various degrees – four people, two for driving under the influence of alcohol, one for driving under the influence of drugs, and one for illegal carrying of a knife.

In addition, two individuals in Vulcano and Stromboli were charged with drunkenness nuisance, as they were found drunk bothering tourists and passersby on public streets. Following the violations, the Carabinieri administratively seized 14 vehicles and deducted 70 points from the driver’s licenses of the offenders.

In the context of anti-drug activities, in Lipari and Vulcano, two people were reported for possession for drug dealing, as they were found in possession of drugs partly divided into doses ready for distribution; 17 young people, aged between 20 and 30 years, were found in possession of small doses of drugs and therefore reported to the Prefecture of Messina as drug users.

During inspections carried out together with personnel from the Asp of Messina at restaurant activities, the owners of three restaurants were reported for attempted fraud in commerce. During the checks, it was found that the managers of the premises had tried to serve frozen products instead of fresh ones as stated in the menus. Finally, in Stromboli and Vulcano, six tourists were reported for violating the mayoral order prohibiting access near the crater.
