Barber of Seville receives applause at Siracusa Municipal Theater

Last Sunday, there was a great success for The Barber of Seville, staged at the Teatro Comunale in Siracusa, in Ortigia. The Asam, the Siracusa Association of Friends of Music, concluded its season with this famous Rossini title. Gianni Luca Giuga, an internationally acclaimed baritone from Siracusa, born in 1992, who curated the production, masterfully interpreted the role of the barber Figaro, the town’s factotum.

“This is already the third event that I have had the pleasure to collaborate with Asam, and the sold-out performance on Sunday is a highly appreciated reward and the result of the hard work carried out throughout the year,” Giuga declared. Joining him on stage were artists with whom the Siracusano baritone had already collaborated in various theaters in Italy and abroad, and whom he had the pleasure of reuniting with on the stage of the Teatro Massimo in Siracusa: the mezzo-soprano from Pesaro, Aloisa Aisemberg, in the role of the beautiful Rosina, the bass from Puglia, Matteo d’Apolito, in the role of her comical guardian, Bartolo, and the Colombian tenor Julian Henao Gonzales in the role of the lover, Count d’Almaviva, with the skilled pianist Francesco Drago. A audience of over four hundred spectators, mostly composed of young people, applauded the protagonists of the evening of Rossini with a long applause. After the summer break, the Teatro Comunale will reopen with new high-quality musical events in the program both in the second part of the year and in 2025.
