4 undeclared workers found in an agricultural company in Caltanissetta
Four undeclared workers, all non-EU immigrants, were found in an agricultural company in Caltanissetta during an inspection by the mobile team and labor inspectors. The business, which had a total of nine workers, was suspended for violations of administrative regulations regarding work contracts, safety regulations due to lack of medical check-ups, absence of training and information courses for workers, and failure to provide necessary personal protective equipment for safe work. The presence of a cultural mediator provided by the “PiĆ¹ Supreme” project of the regional council for Family and Labor was crucial in communicating with the non-EU workers in their native language and detecting the presence and methods of the so-called “caporalato” phenomenon. Administrative sanctions will be issued based on the inspection of acquired documentation and additional information requested from the company. The INPS officials will also initiate contributory recovery measures. Investigations by the mobile team are still ongoing.
