17-year-old girl missing in Taormina, search efforts underway

A girl, almost 18 years old, Denise D’Arro, has disappeared from the hamlet of Trappitello, in Taormina. This afternoon (May 8th) her mother filed a report with the carabinieri. The prefecture immediately activated the provincial plan for the search of missing persons, involving all police forces and firefighters.

To support the search and for broader dissemination of the news, the girl’s photo has been made public. She will turn 18 on June 5th: red hair, blue eyes, 1.80 meters tall. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing blue jeans, a black sweater, and white shoes. There has been no news of Denise since 8 pm on May 2nd when she voluntarily left her residence, taking her white dog with her, and disappearing without a trace. Her cell phone is turned off.
