16 arrests in antimafia investigation by DDA in Ragusa and Catania

An anti-mafia operation coordinated by the DDA of Catania is currently underway in Vittoria, in the province of Ragusa. Finance police from the GICO unit of the financial police in Catania and carabinieri from the investigative unit of the provincial command of Ragusa are executing an arrest warrant issued by the judge of Catania against 16 individuals, at the request of the district anti-mafia directorate. The suspects are accused of various crimes including mafia association, external participation in mafia association, attempted murder, and unlawful competition with threats or violence. Further details about the ongoing operation will be disclosed during a meeting with journalists at the conference room of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Catania.
