Once again violence erupts in the streets of Palermo: a fight between immigrants broke out last night on Via Dante, in the city center, and a thirty-year-old man from Sri Lanka had to be transported to the hospital. First the screams, then the throwing of bottles and beating with sticks: the man was hit multiple times on the head and violently fell to the ground. Some residents of the area, awakened by the commotion, raised the alarm.
The carabinieri immediately arrived on the scene and requested the intervention of the 118 emergency medical services. The man, bleeding and abandoned on the sidewalk, was rescued and transported to the Cervello hospital. He suffered facial injuries, but doctors do not consider his condition to be serious. The attackers fled on foot, leaving no trace.
Meanwhile, the military conducted investigations to reconstruct what happened and to identify the perpetrators. CCTV footage from the area is being analyzed, as it may reveal important details about the assailants. The man told the carabinieri that he knows who attacked him, but has not yet provided any other useful details for identification.
