Mazzarino Mafia: Stidda boss Salvatore Sanfilippo back in court with wife

The mafia boss and his wife are back in court for two murders. Along with them, there are eighteen other defendants accused of mafia-related crimes such as extortion and weapons possession. All of them were involved in the September raid called “Chimera” carried out by the carabinieri which dealt a severe blow to the Mazzarino mafia. The boss of the Stidda, Salvatore Sanfilippo, and his wife Beatrice Medicea, who were already sentenced to life imprisonment for two murders, will appear in the Court of Appeals in Caltanissetta. Also on trial are their daughter Maria Sanfilippo, their nephew Paolo “Siviglia” Sanfilippo, Gianfilippo Fontana (the capomafia’s brother-in-law), and several others. The civil parties involved are Giuseppe Campisi and the Ministry of the Interior.
