Marsala celebrates journalist Dino Barraco’s memory in artistic-cultural movement.

Tomorrow evening, August 17th, at the seaside theater “Pellegrino 1880”, the Cultural Artistic Movement of the city of Marsala will award the career prize to Dino Barraco, the dean of Marsala journalism – a historic correspondent for the Giornale di Sicilia and several times director of various local newspapers – who passed away on June 1st at the age of 83. The association that has been organizing the “a Scurata cunti e canti al calar del Sole” Memorial Enrico Russo Festival for six years has decided to award Barraco with the prize, “as a deserved recognition for a professional who has passionately and devotedly recounted the territory for over fifty years.” The award ceremony will take place in the presence of Barraco’s family, after the performance of “Un abito chiaro” with Amanda Sandrelli and Rita Marcotulli, directed by Massimo Salvianti, which will be held at the seaside theater, in the ancient Salina Genna, at 7:30 pm. The play, written on the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the Ustica massacre, is the perfect setting to honor a journalist who experienced those dark moments professionally and personally.
