Giuseppe Castronovo, leader of war victims and Sicilian blind union, dies in Catania.

A minute of silence and a series of emotional speeches at the Multimedia Tactile Center of Catania, during the meeting of the Uici Regional Council (Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired), remembered Giuseppe Castronovo. He passed away this morning (November 30). Various organizations and individuals praised Castronovo’s dedication to advocating for the blind and visually impaired community in Italy and Sicily. He was a prominent figure in the history of the Association for decades, having been blind since the age of nine due to a wartime explosion. He was recognized for his efforts to improve the cultural, social, health, and economic conditions of the blind and visually impaired. His legacy includes leading the establishment of the Braille Printing Press in Sicily and the Multimedia Tactile Center. Funeral services will be held on December 1st in Catania, Italy.
