Two accidents in a few minutes caused chaos on the A18 Messina-Catania highway, between Giarre and Acireale. Five people were injured in total: three in a collision involving two cars and a van, and three others in a rear-end collision between three vehicles. The injured were taken to the hospital by ambulance and firefighters were called to extract them from the wreckage. Traffic was heavily affected for two hours, with long delays and normal circulation resuming only after the vehicles were removed from the road. Police are investigating the incidents.
