An intense fire broke out in Acireale in a second-floor apartment of a four-story building on Via Cervo 19/c. The firefighters spent several hours trying to tame the flames. According to initial reports, a child with a lighter set fire to a blanket on a sofa while the parents were having lunch. The scene was also attended by medical personnel from the emergency services and the police. Additional support came from a water tank truck, a logistical support vehicle, and a ladder truck. The firefighters reached the apartment and extinguished the fire, securing the entire building. Two adults and a child were rescued from the apartment, but unfortunately, a dog was found dead. All residents were evacuated as a precaution. According to the firefighters, there were no injuries or smoke inhalation.
