The carabinieri arrested 4 people and seized 41.5 kg of drugs in Solarino and Floridia, in the province of Syracuse. In Solarino, in the home of a 34 and 32-year-old couple, 3.5 kg of hashish were found. The woman, upon seeing the military, threw the drugs out the window but the carabinieri recovered them. In Floridia, near the Monasteri district, the military discovered 5 kg of hashish and 1,600 euros in a car. In a 27-year-old man’s house, hidden in the vegetation of a neighboring land, 30 kg of hashish and 3 kg of marijuana were found. The drugs, seized for further laboratory tests, would have yielded over 550 thousand euros if put on the market. The three men were jailed in the Cavadonna prison in Syracuse while the woman was placed under house arrest in her home.
