Documentary in Palermo remembers Franco Scaldati’s life and theater

Eleven years after the death of the actor and playwright Franco Scaldati from Palermo, tomorrow, Monday, June 3, at 5 pm, an event will be held in his memory in the main hall of the Department of Humanities, Letters and Philosophy, featuring the preview of the documentary “Sdisanurati”. Melino Imparato, Igor Scalisi Palminteri, Antonio Macaluso, Costante La Bruna, and Verdiana Mineo will participate in the initiative, moderated by Rossella Puccio.

The documentary, co-produced by Igor Scalisi Palminteri and VediPalermo, was filmed during the creation of a mural dedicated to Scaldati in the Albergheria neighborhood. The film reflects on the artist’s memory and his significant cultural and social impact.

Franco Scaldati, a Sicilian playwright, poet, director, and actor, was a central figure in Sicilian theater, representing the voice of the marginalized and the outskirts of Palermo. “Sdisanurati” explores Scaldati’s life and legacy, starting from Scalisi Palminteri’s artistic action and developing a narrative that intertwines sounds, images, and voices. The documentary highlights the fragile and complex relationship between Palermo and its illustrious children, such as Scaldati, questioning the city’s collective memory.
