Another sit-in will be held tomorrow in support of the Yoox net-a-porter dispute whose customer care activity, entrusted for six years to the Abramo call center, with 47 workers, will pass to the Swedish Transcom.
From 10 to 13 in front of the office of the Department of Labor of the Sicilian Region, in via Trinacria, 3, the workers will protest together with the trade unions Slc-Cgil, Fistel-Cisl and Uilcom-Uil.
Yesterday, with the workers who maintained the garrison in Piazza Pretoria throughout the afternoon, a meeting took place between the mayor of Palermo Leoluca Orlando, the councilor Giovanna Marano and the trade unions.
At the meeting, which ended late in the evening, there was also a delegation of workers employed in the Yoox order.
Slc Cgil, Fistel Cisl and Uilcom Uil illustrated to the institutions the serious situation in which the customer care activity of Yoox, a leading company in online luxury and fashion, is found, which from 1 April will pass with the change of contract from Abraham to the company Transcom.
A transit that would jeopardize the workplace of 47 operators employed in the order.
The count down has already begun and the tension is mounting.
“As a trade union part – they declare Francesco Brugnoneof the secretariat of the Slc CGIL Palermo e Rosy Outline of the Uilcom Uil Palermo secretariat – we have illustrated, in detail, the profound drama that could be unleashed in just under 7 days and which would damage the professionalism, competence and dignity of these workers.
Furthermore, this nefarious Transcom and Yoox operation would be yet another episode of relocation that would once again bring the work done for years in Italy, abroad.“.
The union shared with the municipal institutions the proposal to enhance teleworking as an active tool useful for resolving the dispute.
“Mayor Orlando and councilor Marano immediately took action to inform the Ministry of Labor, reiterating that Yoox, let alone Transcom, must not be allowed to disregard the application of the social clause. – Brugnone and Contorno continue – This dangerous precedent that would be created would affect not only the workers of the Yoox contract in Palermo but the whole Tlc sector“.
The union’s concerns have been acknowledged by the municipal administration.
“The mayor took charge of promoting and supporting the ministerial path.
asking for precise guarantees for the application of the social clause in order to protect the employment of the Palermo site – the representatives of Slc Cgil Palermo and Uilcom Uil Palermo continue – The only objective must be the protection of the 47 workers of the Yoox order, even more so in a delicate dispute like this one.
We would like to underline that the workers themselves have created the facebook page # YookX47Lavoratoriinsaldo with the significant slogan ‘True luxury is work.
We ask the citizens of Palermo to give these families all possible support to block the ‘sale’, supporting and disseminating the initiatives that will be adopted“.
