Garbage in some neighborhoods in Palermo remains on the streets after the emergency caused by the landfill fire in Bellolampo last July 24th, and several piles were set on fire last night. The fires occurred in the Uditore, Brancaccio, and Zen neighborhoods. There was also a waste fire in via Messina Marine. Flames also spread in Ballarò between Decollati and Zaire streets. Firefighters intervened and were engaged for most of the night to extinguish the flames. Fires also occurred in Partinico in the area of the public housing units, which were filled with smoke. The fire broke out in via Biagio Petrocelli. Another fire affected via Milazzo in Carini, where waste was also set on fire.
