Virgin Mary, funds lost for playground in former Edilpomice area

The Lagalla Administration has lost the money allocated in the regional budget to create a public sports space for children and young people in the Vergine Maria district. The funds were intended for the Municipality of Palermo to create this space on the confiscated area of the former Edilpomice, claimed by citizens for years and now under the control of the national Agency. This was denounced by Adriano Varrica, regional deputy of the 5 Star Movement, following a discussion with the relevant offices.

As always, Varrica emphasizes the disconnect between the hypocrisy of this Administration’s statements and the facts. The fight against crime, mafia, and social issues is carried out by returning public spaces to citizens, especially when the message is the recovery and reuse of mafia assets by Institutions for collective purposes. Despite the Municipality declaring in February its intention to use these funds, it did not even request the area from the Agency, a total disinterest that led to missing this opportunity. A very serious matter. We have submitted a council inquiry from M5S group leader Antonino Randazzo to clarify the intentions of the Lagalla Administration for Vergine Maria and whether they intend to rectify their mistakes with alternative resources.
