Violence against women: in Palermo a bus in livery to say No

(ANSA) – PALERMO, NOVEMBER 24 – Zonta International, Rotary and Inner Wheel, already partners in numerous initiatives, are united against the violence against women that started today from Piazza Crispi in Palermo with a bus dressed in the colors of the Zonta says no! campaign A hand that stops the violence by saying Stop and some phrases calling for respect for women are the warning and invitation that the three organizations issue to the city, recalling, through this medium that will circulate for 30 days, the invitation to respect life and the dignity of women of all ages. The three organisations, which have been engaged in the defense of human rights and in supporting the person for over a hundred years, underline, with this initiative, the need to raise awareness of these issues so as not to forget the thousands of women killed every year at the hands of violent men. Valuable contribution from the general management of Amat which has dedicated two red seats inside the bus to remind that love does not kill. And tomorrow morning, International Day Against Violence, an official on board the bus will explain the meaning of the campaign to the travellers. “Our commitment to women lasts all year round – says Maria Giambruno La Porta, president of Zonta Palermo Zyz who, together with Caterina Di Chiara, president of Zonta Triscele, represents Zonta international in Palermo – The Zonta Says No campaign is the period of the year in which the initiatives multiply and above all the presence within the schools is strengthened with awareness-raising and training initiatives aimed at young people”.

“We need to go beyond the reflection that the day requires – says Bruno Calandrino, on behalf of the 13 participating Rotary clubs – because we believe that the only way to eradicate this horrible social scourge is to talk about it 365 days a year by highlighting the social dichotomies in which women live, in order to support them”.

“Initiatives like this – underlines Patrizia Semilia Codiglione, president of Innerwheel Palermo Centro – serve to strengthen alliances because, in unity of purpose, results can only be achieved together”. .
