Regenerate the socio-economic fabric, increase accessibility, safety of places and the refurbishment of public spaces and buildings. And, again, redevelop and increase housing or social housing complexes, thus improving the quality of life of citizens in the suburbs of eight municipalities on the island. For this reason, the Musumeci government has decided to propose to the Ministry of Infrastructures the financing of over 27 million euros for two projects, within the “National innovative program for the quality of living”. The Sicilian Region will play the role of aggregator of intervention strategies coordinated with the Municipalities.
“The recovery and redevelopment of peripheral areas – highlights the president of the Region – represent one of the objectives of my government. With these resources, to which others will soon be added, we feed a building activity and, at the same time, we decorate the urban fabric, taking up the cry for help that comes from the territory. We aim to improve the quality of life in small and medium-sized centers, also recreating the conditions for the socio-economic and cultural development of the Municipalities ».
The provinces of Catania (with Acireale, Aci Catena, Aci Bonaccorsi, Aci Sant’Antonio and Valverde) and Agrigento (with Ravanusa, Licata and Palma di Montechiaro) are interested.
«We have chosen the plans of these eight municipalities – underlines the regional councilor for Infrastructures Marco Falcone – because they are convinced by the urban redevelopment and recovery works they presented to us. The Musumeci government immediately put urban redevelopment among its programmatic priorities and therefore our participation, as a proponent to MIT, in the national innovative program for the quality of living was necessary and necessary. Sicily has the credentials, now we are confident in the appreciation of the ministry ».
