The heatwave is paralyzing Sicily. The scorching sun strikes down like a hot club onto public offices and private companies, construction sites, and any activities in motion. The mercury level has exceeded the threshold of tolerance everywhere. It is impossible to work with 45 degrees Celsius above our heads. It is impossible to handle desk work when even the air conditioning system can no longer cope. And so, from Palermo to Syracuse, from Catania to Agrigento, measures are being taken to alleviate these dreadful days for workers. Yesterday, in the capital city of Sicily, ambulances were seen at the technical hub in Via Ausonia, where the offices of Public Works and Private Construction are located: two employees were assisted.
