Unicredit funds purchase of boat to support Lilt Trapani

UniCredit has granted financial support to the Trapani section of Lilt (Italian League for the Fight Against Cancer) for the purchase of a dragon boat. Lilt has been committed for several years to effective health education with the aim of reducing the incidence of cancer and increasing the chances of recovery.
The main objective is to defeat cancer through primary prevention measures aimed at promoting physical activity, proper nutrition, abstaining from tobacco, alcohol, drugs, and more.
Furthermore, Lilt is involved in secondary prevention through national screening programs, which fall within the scope of preventive medicine, and in tertiary prevention with the adoption of measures aimed at attenuating the impact of the disease with physical rehabilitation interventions, and psychological and social support. In this regard, rehabilitation interventions through the sport of dragon boat, a discipline recognized worldwide as beneficial for the psychophysical health of women undergoing breast surgery following a diagnosis of breast cancer.
“UniCredit has always been close to the needs of the territory – emphasizes Salvatore Malandrino, UniCredit’s Regional Manager for Sicily – providing concrete support to the communities in which it operates. Our donation was made possible thanks to UniCreditCard Flexia Etica, linked to an ethical project. The ethical card stipulates that two per thousand of the expenses incurred by customers go to feed, at no cost to the cardholder, a specific Fund whose resources are intended for various solidarity initiatives and projects carried out by non-profit organizations that pursue socially useful objectives.”
“The boat – declares Elisabetta Butera, President of Lilt Trapani – will participate in national and regional sports events organized and promoted by Lilt in collaboration with the Italian Naval League or by entities and associations that promote the same social values.”
