Two Tunisians escape in a car, ram police car, expelled and placed in repatriation center in Catania

Two Tunisian citizens were expelled from Padua and placed in the Cpr (Center for Repatriation) in Catania after being stopped at the end of a car chase with the police in the Stanga area, resulting from an attempted theft and ending with a collision with the police car.
The incident occurred around 4.30 am, when two police cars were alerted by the Police Headquarters Operational Room following a report of an attempted theft. One team verified that a shop window had been broken and two people were quickly walking away. Another police car noticed an Opel Astra with the engine running and two people inside.
Upon seeing the officers, the car sped off. This led to a chase, in which a third patrol car got involved. The chase continued until the Opel driver crashed into a light pole and a fence wall. The driver and passenger were immediately removed from the car and restrained by the officers.
During the investigations, it emerged that the driver was unlicensed and driving under the influence; the vehicle was owned by a foreign citizen. At the Police Headquarters, a 27-year-old and a 43-year-old Tunisian homeless individuals, irregular and with previous offenses for drugs, trespassing, theft, receiving stolen goods, and illegal immigration, were identified. They were unrelated to the attempted theft at the bar that led to the incident. They were ultimately placed in the Cpr in Catania by the Questore of Padua, Marco Odorisio, for the final expulsion from the national territory.
