Over five thousand olive trees have been delivered to all schools in Sicily to celebrate Tree Day, organized by the Sicilian Region for the National Tree Day on November 21st. The regional councilors for Agriculture, Luca Sammartino, and Education, Mimmo Turano, planted two olive trees with students from different schools. The initiative aims to engage the younger generation with the environment, and symbolizes the Sicilian identity and history. The educational project, funded by the Agriculture department, also offers a grant to schools and municipalities to promote awareness of the natural richness of the island.
