Trapani Airport closed, some flights redirected to Palermo: Canadair in action

Several flights from Belgrade, Bratislava, and Porto have been diverted to Palermo as the Trapani-Birgi airport was closed due to a fire in the surrounding area. The Civil Protection is also involved in firefighting, mentioning the use of aircraft. Currently, 4 Canadair planes, 2 state helicopters, and additional regional helicopters are active. Strong winds are fueling multiple fires in different provinces of Sicily. The regional president, Renato Schifani, assures that no injuries or damages to homes have been reported so far.
