Tourist robbed on via Maqueda, Sicilian man arrested

A man in Palermo committed a theft by snatching a tourist’s backpack in the city center. He approached the tourist under the pretense of asking for a cigarette, then grabbed the backpack and fled. However, he was quickly apprehended by police who connected the theft to a radio report from another patrol that had assisted the victim. The backpack was returned to the tourist and the man was arrested for theft. The judicial authority validated the arrest.
