Tourist in cardiac arrest saved in Lampedusa by paramedics, transported by helicopter to Agrigento hospital

A 63-year-old tourist from Milan was saved by medical personnel from the 118 emergency service in Lampedusa after collapsing in the apartment where she was vacationing, showing no signs of life. Her husband raised the alarm and reanimators, nurses, and rescuers from the 118 station on the island intervened. The woman was in cardiac arrest. Anesthesiologist reanimator Dr. Carla Pulizzi from the Policlinico of Palermo intubated her and transported her with nurse Marcello Cinquemani from the Civico of Partinico, and rescuers Salvatore Cannizzaro and Davide Fecarotta to the hospital on the island. The woman was transported by helicopter through the central operating unit Palermo-Trapani, directed by Fabio Genco. The tourist was then admitted to the San Giovanni Di Dio in Agrigento in the intensive care unit and is reportedly out of danger.
