Tony Pipitone asks to reopen the investigation on Denise, Piera Maggio: “She should have warned me first”

Tony Pipitone, Denise’s non-biological father who raised her as his own for 4 years before she went missing in Mazara on September 1, 2004, has filed a request to reopen the case at the court in Marsala, seeking new investigations. Pipitone, president of the non-profit organization – missing children in the heart – a third sector entity, was accompanied by his attorney. The request filed in Marsala is based on three reports from criminology consultants: Giuseppe Asaro, Antonella Delfino Pesce, and Katia Sartori, as well as numerous attached documents. The news was not well received by Denise’s biological mother, Piera Maggio.

“Where is the fairness? Instead of informing the press, they should have informed me first, because by the way Denise is my daughter! In every way,” Piera Maggio, Denise Pipitone’s mother, expressed. “The request to reopen the investigations should have been made in secrecy without personal publicity, nothing was leaked prematurely by us for evaluation, so we are not celebrating but waiting,” she wrote in a statement shared on social media.

“In these cases, the only thing to do was to maintain the utmost confidentiality. Without the real parents of Denise, those who are actually involved and not just on paper, receiving sly and vile attacks from some acquaintances and ‘friends of the pen’ of people we do not like. When at the core of everything towards us there is not a supportive and understanding attitude, but rather one of arrogance and presumption, they have already taken the wrong path. Some attitudes we find unsustainable.”
