The works on the Corleone Bridge in Palermo are resuming: construction will continue until October.

Work on the Corleone Bridge in Palermo resumes today. An ordinance issued by the mobility office of the Municipality, number 1041 dated July 21, announces interventions on the central roadway on the mountain side, heading towards Catania on the right side, following the one-way traffic direction.
There should not be any major inconvenience, but certainly there will be some slowdowns due to the significant amount of traffic (which should be lower in August) on Viale Regione Siciliana. According to the ordinance, the works will last until October 6th.
Why shouldn’t anything change for motorists? Technically, the works will take place in an area already closed to traffic, which is just over two meters wide, so on paper there shouldn’t be any problems. However, due to the installation of barriers and various signs, there might be some circulation difficulties.
The interventions are carried out by Anas, which has been in charge of the situation for some time now, along with the extraordinary commissioner of the project, Maurizio Castiglioni. According to the ordinance, Anas will ensure that the construction activities, carried out by the contracting company, are executed according to the best practices and in compliance with the Highway Code, in order to ensure traffic safety. However, Anas will not provide its own vehicles. Work can also be carried out at night, as stated in the ordinance.
The Corleone Bridge is an overpass on the Oreto River and the ring road. The structure, which consists of a reinforced concrete arch, shows significant signs of degradation. Therefore, maintenance and seismic improvement/adjustment interventions are necessary.
