The university professor who died in Egypt, the body returned to Partinico

The body of the Palermo university professor Giuseppe Provenzano returned to Sicily today from Egypt, where the professor died last December 1 due to a road accident. The coffin was transferred to the Partinico cemetery. Waiting for friends and relatives.

The mayor will proclaim the city’s mourning on the day of the funeral to be held next Friday at 10 in the Mother Church. Professor Provenzano was in Egypt on behalf of the University of Palermo because he was involved in a partnership project. On the way back to the airport, the bus on which he was traveling overturned in a head-on collision and he died of his injuries.

An engineering graduate, Giuseppe Provenzano was 58 years old and worked in the university’s faculty of agriculture. Graduated in Hydraulic Civil Engineering in 1989 at the University of Palermo, he obtained the title of PhD in Hydronomy. In his research activity he has provided contributions of internationally recognized importance, especially in the field of water resource management in agriculture, with the use of advanced agro-hydrological modeling and latest generation sensors.

In addition to his scientific stature and extraordinary dedication to teaching, Professor Provenzano has always stood out for his human gifts, also demonstrated by his particular attention to the development of some African countries.
