There is already a detention for the assault that took place last night in Trapani, against a 44-year-old Ukrainian woman. The investigators of the Trapani flying squad following the investigations arrested a man. Meanwhile, other details emerge: the Ukrainian woman would have been beaten to death and perhaps even raped.
Yesterday evening the suspect was taken to the police station where he was questioned by the assistant prosecutor Brunella Sardoni.
The episode of violence took place at the Mura di Tramontana. The woman, homeless, was beaten and probably also raped. The police investigation is focusing on this point. The alarm had been raised by a passerby who had found the victim lying on a bench in Piazza Generale Scio, stained with blood. The call to 118 and then the woman was accompanied to the hospital where yesterday she underwent a delicate surgery.
Copious traces of blood had also been found on the stairway leading to the Walls. The alleged attacker was identified by the agents of the Flying Squad who had acquired the images taken by the video surveillance cameras located in the area. There would be no doubts that the woman was beaten up and, instead, it is still to be ascertained whether she suffered sexual violence.
