Music returns to the city and is a sign of hope, so that concerts and shows can finally be enjoyed live. The concert season of the Laudamo Philharmonic which this year reaches the important milestone of the hundredth anniversary of life. Founded in 1921, the Philharmonic is the oldest Sicilian concert company.
And so we start again, with theCorelli Conservatory wind orchestra conducted by Lorenzo Della Fonte, with soloist Marco Braito on trumpet. First and prestigious appointment in the series of concerts of the Philharmonic at the “Vittorio Emanuele”, realized in collaboration with the Ente Teatro di Messina and the Corelli Conservatory. The evocative title of the event “Return from the USSR: fairy tales, utopias and reality”, conceived by the conductor Della Fonte for the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Armenian composer active in the former Soviet Union, Alexander Arutunian (1920-2012), it will include music, as well as by Arutiunian himself, by Kozehvnikov and Stravinskij. Maestro Lorenzo Della Fonte, is also a composer, teacher and author of essays, he has conducted in European or Italian premieres works by authors such as Rodrigo, Husa, Daugherty, Williams, Grainger, Tower, Gaslini, Boccadoro, Gedda, Corigliano and ha won the first prize in the international competition for conductors “Prix Credit Suisse”. He is professor of instrumentation for wind orchestras at the Turin Conservatory, director of the Valtellina Wind Orchestra, the Wind Orchestra of the Messina and Sassari Conservatories, and the Brass Band of the Turin Conservatory. As a guest conductor he has to his credit international concert activity which counts almost 700 concerts in 18 countries of the world.
Soloist of the concert will be Maestro Marco Braito. First trumpet of the Rai National Symphony Orchestra, he held the same role in the Orchestra of Tuscany and at the San Carlo Theater in Naples. He trained at the Conservatory of Bolzano, he perfected at the School of Higher Musical Specialization in Saluzzo and at the National Superior Conservatory of Paris in the prestigious class of maestro Pierre Thibaud. As a soloist he has performed with the Symphony Orchestra of Rome, the Rai National Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of Tuscany, the Orchestra of Padua and Veneto, the Mantua Chamber Orchestra. He regularly collaborates with the Conservatory of Udine in the second level courses. Component of the famous ensemble “Gomalan Brass Quintet”, winner of the prestigious first prize at the international competition “City of Passau”.
Today’s concert, pending the shows held in person, will be broadcast online, on the website www.filarmonicalaudamo.it, on the Facebook page and on the YouTube channel of the Laudamo Philharmonic and on the website of the Vittorio Emanuele Theater (www.teatrovittorioemanuele.it) starting at 9pm.
The hope of the organizers is that the second event on May 16 with Francesco Libetta & the Symphony Orchestra of the Corelli Conservatory conducted by Bruno Cinquegrani with Francesco Libetta at the piano, and the third concert on Sunday May 23 with the Corelli Jazz Band conducted by Giovanni Mazzarino , can be followed by the public in presence. Because, although online shows have been an indispensable tool of resistance during the closures of places of culture, we can return very soon to an immediate transfer of suggestions between performers and spectators and to an emotional combustion, truly irreplaceable.
