The "reginelle", a classic of Sicilian pastry with a regal taste
The reginelle or Regina biscuits I'm Sicilian crumbly biscuits, with a characteristic "smoked" aroma mixed with that of saffron, sweetened, occasionally, by the sesame seeds with which the surface is sprinkled.
In dialect they are also called "viscotta 'nciminati"Which, translated, means" biscuits with the tip "or with sesame seeds also called giuggiulena.
In Palermo they can be found in both bakeries and pastry shops, even if the use of the lard in the dough by the former (with some exceptions) compared to the butter used by the latter, can easily make you understand the differences between the two types of biscuits , which will be more crunchy in the first case but tastier and more fragrant in the second.
