The new center of Palermo: two large grass fields like Barbera’s and two buildings for the team – PHOTOS

The Torretta center, the first sports facility owned by Palermo football club, consists of two natural grass fields of the same dimensions as the Renzo Barbera stadium (105 x 68 m), a smaller natural grass field (32 x 32 m) dedicated to goalkeeper training, a main building, and a club house that combines the aesthetic identity of the territory with the latest sports technologies.
The new facility is the result of the City Football Group model for the construction of high-level sports infrastructure, which allows for the sharing of best practices and innovative technologies worldwide. Like the Sports Centers already built by CFG in Manchester, Melbourne, New York, and Montevideo, the Palermo CFA (City Football Academy) is designed to ensure the best performance from players and staff, the application of successful training methodologies, the economic sustainability of the structure, and the positive impact on the territory in terms of regeneration of the areas involved, job creation for the local community, and environmental respect.
Palermo has preserved the local flora, safeguarding, planting, and relocating over 400 trees and new plants typical of the Mediterranean scrub for a total of 30,000 square meters of green areas. Additionally, a “social garden” has been created near the new kitchen of the club house, which will host educational and social activities in collaboration with local charitable associations, in line with community projects promoted and supported by CFG worldwide.
The Palermo CFA was designed by Studio Mazzarella Architects following CFG guidelines for sports infrastructure. Project management was carried out by T&T Italia. The general contractor was ATI Eps snc and By Multiservizi.
