Autopsies have been ordered on the bodies of the two spouses, Salvatore Cometa and Teresa Monastero, aged 78 and 76, who died in a fire of undetermined causes in their home in Fondo Orsa in the vicinity of the Falcone Borsellino airport. The area became a blazing inferno during the night between July 24th and 25th. The fire damaged several houses and incinerated the bodies of the Palermo couple from the Borgo Nuovo neighborhood, who were spending the summer in Cinisi.
Many people called 112 to request assistance in containing the flames, which spread from Montagna Longa to the Fondo Orsa area. While waiting for help to arrive, residents used makeshift hoses and buckets to protect their homes. Unfortunately, they were unable to save the two spouses. The bodies were discovered lifeless by the firefighters and the municipal police of Cinisi. The investigation is being conducted by the carabinieri.
