The Marettimo Italian Film Fest presents the Stella Maris Award to the film “La primavera della mia vita” (The Spring of My Life).

The fourth edition of the Marettimo Italian Film Fest – We love the sea (MIFF) came to a close with the Stella Maris awards ceremony, featuring moments of music and entertainment. The film “La primavera della mia vita” by Zavvo Nicolosi, starring Colapesce and Dimartino, was awarded the Best Film 2023 prize. The special guest of the final evening, hosted by Beppe Convertini and Gabriella Carlucci, and to be broadcast on Rai, was Maria Grazia Cucinotta, a talented Italian actress from Sicily, who received the festival’s career award presented by Senator Maurizio Gasparri, Vice President of the Senate and a great supporter of the event since its first edition in 2019. Colapesce and Dimartino also performed three of their musical songs on stage: Splash, Il cuore è un malfattore, and Musica leggerissima. Singer Chiara Castiglione also took the stage. The winners were determined by a jury composed of Donatella Finocchiaro, Pino Ammendola, Lele Vannoli, Orio Scaduto, and Bianca Nappi. The Stella Maris awards were presented to Mimmo Calopresti for Best Directing in the documentary “Romanzo radicale”, Alessio Vassallo for Best Actor in “I racconti della domenica” by Giovanni Virgilio, Ester Pantano for Best Lead Actress in the fiction “Makari”, Mariasole Di Maio and Alessandra Masi for Best Supporting Actresses in the fiction “Un posto al sole”, Sabrina Martina for Best Fiction Interpretation in “Luce dei tuoi occhi”, Giorgia Lavina for winning the Social Suite format broadcast on Amazon, Don’t be cruel by Andrej Chinappi for Best Short Film 2023 in the section curated by artistic director Ignazio Senatore of the National Union of Film Critics. The Audience Award went to “La Stranezza” by Roberto Andò. The Stella Maris Award is offered by the historical jewelry and coral workshop Platimiro Fiorenza from Trapani. Prior to this, Edoardo Leo was honored as Person of the Year. Among the performances were Anastacia Kuz’mina and Simone Casula, dancers from “Ballando con le stelle”. Actress Vanessa Galipoli hosted several talks. This year’s event also featured a preview of food&cinema, with a show cooking by chef Lorenzo Cantoni, Ambassador of Taste and Best Chef of Olive Oil for Airo, the International Association of Olive Oil Restaurants, showcasing his food concept linked to olive oil as an ingredient rather than a condiment. The dish dedicated to Sicily was “Marinated Sicilian red prawn, fermented watermelon and red tomato, bound by almond flour and extra virgin white olive oil”. The audience enjoyed this finger food with wines from Cantine Fina. During the event, the Green Village was set up, showcasing Sicilian excellence ranging from fishing to craftsmanship, agri-food, and services.
