A summer season of great events at Villa Filippina Park which, from 6 July to 18 September, is preparing to brighten the summer of Palermo with a calendar full of events.

Two tributes to Franco Battiato, the recently deceased Sicilian singer-songwriter, shows with national comic artists, the Monsù refreshment area with a renewed look and menu, Palermo Pride for the second year and the National Unity Day, for the first time in Palermo which closes the summer season in September.

After the success of “Una marina di libri”, for the second consecutive year at Villa Filippina, the Urania association of Marcello Barrale and Lisa Cosentino, which has managed the city park since 2018, is preparing for summer with a rich program in collaboration with numerous partners, including city theaters, entertainment organizations and political actors.

«We announce our fourth season of summer events, with an extra piece, the new concept of the Monsù dining area – whose name derives from the cooks of the ancient kitchen of the ‘700, the period in which Villa Filippina was born.

The public and guests will find a renewed menu with a great variety of pizzas and sandwiches, Sicilian street food, cocktails and beers, wine and soft drinks.
All while enjoying a pleasant green space in the heart of the city.

The Monsù will be operational and available every summer weekend, with the possibility of organizing any type of event (parties, conferences and anniversaries of all kinds).

We want to offer a multifunctional space, increasingly attractive and open to all, welcoming events of great national importance, such as the National Unity Day, for the first time in Palermo ».

The collaboration with the Free Theater is consolidated, which concludes the second summer season at Villa Filippina and the Ditirammu, with entertainment organizations such as Agave Spettacoli, for a varied program that will be staged in the two stages set up in the 10,000 square meters of Villa Filippina: the large stage with 800 seats and the small one with 100 seats adjacent to the Monsù refreshment area.


Friday 1 July – 9.30 pm
The Monsù refreshment area is inaugurated for an evening of music, dinner and aperitifs.

On stage, for an evening signed “ModseasON”, in collaboration with Modwear and Modcafè, Mezz Gacano will perform with “Mezz Gacano waiting for Richard Sinclair”, a tribute to the British musician Richard Sinclair, inventor and protagonist of the so-called “Canterbury scene” .
Following dj set by Modwear and Modcafè.

Saturday 2 July – 9.30 pm
Evening at Monsù between dinner, aperitifs and DJ sets with Francesca Aurora Inghilleri, organized by Modcafè.

Wednesday 6th July at 21.00
Portuguese fado concert “A bridge between Portugal and Sicily” by Alenfado.
The show is a musical journey that from the magical and intense atmospheres of the fado of the neighborhoods of Lisbon guides us to the discovery of assonant sounds also in other popular music, especially Sicilian, which equally deal with topics of daily life, of neighborhoods and villages, of passions, nostalgia and dreams.
Tickets available (12 euros for the first sector, 10 euros for the second sector).

Friday 8 and Saturday 9 July

Villa Filippina hosts some events of the “Palermo Pride”, which this year has the actor Giuseppe Fiorello as “godfather”.
Villa Filippina will host the last stage of the parade on Saturday that starts from the Foro Italico and the “Palermo Pride sounds”, with nationally renowned artists, including the List Representative, who this year donated her anthem to Pride, the new single “Diva”.

Wednesday 13th July

There is the Festino del Ditirammu “U Triunfu di Santa Rosalia” between songs and dances of the historic folk company, dedicated to the patron saint of Palermo.

Saturday 16th July

It’s up to the Sicilian musician Angelo Sicurella for a “ModseasON” evening in the small theater, in collaboration with Modwear and Modcafè.
Possibility to have dinner and an aperitif at Monsù.

It continues with the “ModseasON” evenings on 27 July with Tamuna, on 30 July with the live jazz-rock of Chester Gorilla, on 6 August with the concert of the Palermo singer-songwriter Giulia Mei.

Sunday 17 July

The “Our Voice” youth cultural movement made up of young people from different parts of the world who denounce social injustices through art brings to the stage a program of shows and political meetings dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Massacres.

Tuesday 19th July

An evening dedicated to Renzo Arbore, with the Anima Sud ensemble and the artists of the Renzo Arbore Italian Orchestra, Gianni Conte (historical solo voice), Mariano Caiano (solo voice, with the historical piece “O Sarracino”) and Giovanni Imparato (famous percussionist and singer).
Tickets available (single ticket 18 euros).

Thursday 21st July

“The Godfather in concert”, a show with projections taken from the trilogy of “The Godfather”, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the first part of the FF Coppola film.
On stage the Florulli Orchestra conducted by Maestro Lidio Florulli and Serena Vitale as solo voice.
Tickets available (15 euros for the first sector, 12 euros for the second sector).

Saturday 23 July (four shifts: 20.30, 21.15, 22.00 and 22.45) evening at the Planetarium dedicated to the Unistellar, a particular type of telescope to observe the instruments of the deep sky, clusters, nebulae, galaxies, even from the city.
Journey with projections under the dome of the Planetarium and external observations on the lawn of Villa Filippina with the Unistellar.

Sunday 24th July

Concert by the Palermo pianist Davide Santacolomba.

Wednesday 3 August

Evening dedicated to Stand-up comedy in collaboration with The Comedy Club with comedians Ravenna, Rapone and Tinti.

Thursday 4th August

First tribute to Franco Battiato with the theatrical show “And you come to seek”, with Andrea Scanzi and Gianluca Di Febo.
“And I come to look for you” is the title of the new book by the Italian journalist who traces the career of one of the greatest artists of Italian music, with forays into his studies as a linguist and opera, cinema and painting, religion and in meditation.
Tickets available (28 euros for the first sector, 23 euros for the second sector).

Monday 22nd August

To tread the stage of Villa Filippina will be Max Angioni, emerging comedian, fresh from the successes of Italia’s Got Talent, Zelig, Le Iene and Lol2 who arrives at the theater with the show “Miracolato”.
Work that consecrates him as one of the new faces of the national comic scene.

Friday 26th August

Show with the Palermo comedian Ernesto Maria Ponte.

Saturday 27th August

It’s up to the comedian Francesco Cicchella with “Bis!”.
In this show Cicchella plays all his hilarious one man show cards, in which we find his warhorses such as the parodies of the singers Ultimo, Achille Lauro, Massimo Ranieri and completely new performances.
Tickets available (single ticket 23 euros).

More live music with the singer-songwriter delle Corde pazze.

Saturday 3rd September

It is the turn of the second homage to Battiato “Alice canta Battiato”, a show in which the refined singer-songwriter pays homage to her friend Franco.
Carla Bissi, in the registry of the show Alice, on her career as a singer took the opportunity and the circumstance of the meeting with Franco Battiato, matured in the Sanremo victory of 1981 with “For Elisa”.

From 9 to 18 September

The season of Villa Filippina ends with the National Unity Day, for the first time in Palermo.
Scheduled with meetings, political debates, and entertainment shows.
