The investigation into the reception fraud, revoked measure for the accountant of the Omnia Academy

Measure revoked: Massimo Accurso Tagano, 50, accountant of the Omnia Academy, an association that managed 15 reception centers, accused with five other people of having cheated the State through the false attestation of the presence of migrants, pending the now imminent trial, come back totally free.

The review court upheld the appeal of the defender, the lawyer Calogero Sferrazza, and revoked the measure that imposed the prohibition on contracting with the public administration and the obligation to sign twice a week. Accurso Tagano, during the interrogation following the operation, which took place on February 18, defended himself by explaining to the investigating judge that he had never dealt with the management of the company but that he limited himself to the processing of payslips and accounting documents.

Theses that had not convinced the investigating judge Francesco Provenzano so much that the request for revocation of the measure had been rejected. The question has been re-proposed to the court of liberty which, now, has decided to accept it.

The court of review of Agrigento previously canceled, however, the seizure of assets – a property and some current accounts – to which the seals had been affixed as part of the investigation.

For the six suspects – managers and employees of Omnia -, meanwhile, the investigation has already been closed and the next step of the deputy prosecutor Salvatore Vella and prosecutor Elenia Manno could be the request for indictment.
