The event “Inferno: The Immersive Experience” was born from the desire of the two curators, Edoardo Rossi and Virginia Alfano, to propose in a first and reduced version, the contents of the curatorial project dedicated to the Divine Comedy in collaboration with the writer Franco Nembrini and the illustrator Gabriele Dell’Otto.
Everything stems from a question: how to communicate Dante to young people? “We found the answer in the volume Inferno published by Mondadori, an innovative attempt to bring the text of the Divine Comedy closer to a wider audience, through the extensive comments of Professor Franco Nembrini and the paintings for each canto by Gabriele Dell’Otto, one of the 8 most important Marvel illustrators in the world “.
After a first exhibition dedicated to the students of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan in 2019 and the opening of the complete and extended version of the latter in Verona at the Bastione delle Maddalene in 2022, an entirely digital and multimedia version arrives in Palermo of the initiative that presents in Sicily for the first time the work of Franco and Gabriele curated by Virginia Alfano and Edoardo Rossi.
The two curators, moved by the passion to make culture more accessible, think of exporting the project to their hometown and presenting its educational and artistic potential through the collaboration with the Sicily Foundation, an institution that has been taking care of the cultural programming of events, conferences and exhibitions in Palermo.
Thanks to the support of the Sicily Foundation, it has been possible to create an event in recent months that will allow visitors for two weeks, from 8 April to 18 April, to discover the Divine Comedy in an unprecedented way, through the projection of the paintings by Gabriele Dell ‘Otto and Franco Nembrini’s comments.
The event will be enriched by the physical presence of Franco Nembrini and the telematic presence of Gabriele Dell’Otto, to launch the initiative on April 8 at Villa Zito at 6 pm.
