“We were inside our car, which caught fire, but thanks to God we came out unharmed from this terrible situation.” While recounting the misadventure experienced together with his wife and children, Michele Tumminello is still shaken. Their car caught fire while driving in Villagrazia di Carini, near Palermo. “We were driving when we started smelling a strange burnt odor. Suddenly, flames erupted from the engine compartment.” In the span of two minutes, my car, a Citroen C3, was completely engulfed in fire. Tumminello and his family members, despite immense fear, managed to open the doors and get away, thus saving themselves. “As confirmed by the firefighters,” Tumminello continues, “it was a short circuit and the safety mechanisms would have automatically activated within moments. We were about to be trapped.” A nightmare that ended with the intervention of the firefighters who extinguished the flames: the car was completely destroyed. “The important thing is that we made it,” Tumminello concludes, “we returned home safe and sound, and we’re all okay.”
