THE BERSAGLIERI DELL’AOSTA CELEBRATE THE CONSTITUTION OF THE BODY
The 6th Bersaglieri Regiment commemorates the 185th anniversary of the establishment of the Corps
TRAPANI, 1 July 2021. In recent days, the 6th Bersaglieri Regiment celebrated the 185th anniversary of the establishment of the Bersaglieri Corps at the “Luigi Giannettino” barracks in Trapani. The ceremony, which was attended by the highest civil and military authorities of the City and the Province, had as protagonists the “feathered foot soldiers” from Trapani, belonging to the “Aosta” Brigade, and opened with the surrender of honors to the War Flag of the regiment.
Colonel Alberto Nola, Commander of the unit, accompanied by the Corps NCO First Lieutenant Giuseppe Genna, by the Mayor of Trapani Giacomo Tranchida and by the Vicar of the Prefect Caterina Minutoli, placed a laurel wreath on the monument to the fallen of all wars. Subsequently, the military chaplain, Don Pino Maniscalco, recited the Bersagliere’s prayer.
During the ceremony, the many acts of heroism carried out by the Bersaglieri in 185 years of history were remembered, since, on 18 June 1836, the then Captain Alessandro La Marmora proposed to Carlo Alberto of Savoy to give life to the Corps.
The ceremony, held in compliance with the containment measures of the contagion from Covid-19, was accompanied by the fanfare of the regiment which proposed bersaglieresque music drawn from the tradition of the specialty.
The event ended with an essay on the main operational capabilities of the 6th regiment, demonstrating the versatility of use that distinguishes the Italian Army.
