Tenuta Pizzolungo – Erice

The farmhouse, which overlooks the sea, rises on the slopes of Monte Erice, a few kilometers from the historic center of Trapani, on the eastern side.

The estate is dominated by a rocky ridge that slopes gently towards the sea, along which vineyards and olive groves, vegetables and cereals are cultivated.

The surrounding land can be covered on foot and by bicycle, ideal for short walks in the countryside characterized by breathtaking landscapes.

In the early twentieth century the lawyer Francesco Adragna bought the estate, the entire company was almost exclusively used for grazing because the lean and stony ground was exposed, on the north side, to sea winds and, on the midday side, to the sirocco.

There was only a building and a spring well from which, through the noria, the water flowed into a round basin (gebbia) which still irrigates the vegetable garden and gardens today.

Precisely that water and a great fervor of works made this land an oasis of greenery that has seen the growth of five generations of the Adragna family.

The original building was enlarged, the surrounding land was reclaimed and a large Mediterranean garden was planted. Driven by the same passion that once activated their ancestors, Francesco and Mariella now live in this company with their children and grandchildren, hosting anyone who wants to get to know Sicily, its traditions and its historical roots better.
