Telimar opens its new home in Terrasini

Tomorrow afternoon, the Telimar Palermo water polo team will officially inaugurate its new headquarters in Terrasini, on the occasion of the first day of the Serie A1 championship. The Palermo team will face Onda Forte, formerly known as Astra Nuoto, in the municipal pool of the town about 30 kilometers from Palermo, where they will train and play home games for the next few months. The facility features a beautiful outdoor pool that will be the new focal point of the club.

Telimar, led by coach Marco Baldineti in his fifth year at the helm of the team, presents a renewed and rejuvenated roster. Among the key players are Palermo natives Francesco Paolo Lo Cascio, Giliberti, Lo Dico, and Fabiano, alongside Marini, in his second year in Palermo, and new acquisitions Holland, Muscat, Bajic, Boggiano, and Mangiante. Of particular note is the return of Mandalà, who returns to defend the goal after almost twenty years.

“The preparation has been tough and intense,” said captain Lo Cascio. “We have a young team, with many new players ready to grow. The mix of young talent and the local core makes us look to the future with confidence.”

Coach Baldineti emphasized the importance of the remaining Palermo players: “They are called to become leaders. The new headquarters in Terrasini offers the tranquility in training that was lacking in recent years in Palermo. The only concern is the distance; I hope it doesn’t affect the support of the fans, but we may find new ones in Terrasini.”

Telimar president Marcello Giliberti spoke about the challenges facing the club: “We have great motivations for this new cycle, although it will be a very difficult championship. The goal is no longer to aim for the top positions, as in the past, but for survival. I am cautiously optimistic.”
