Telimar makes successful debut in water polo with three points, defeating Onda Forte Roma

First roar of the young lions of Telimar Palermo, in the debut of the Serie A1 water polo tournament. The Sicilian team inaugurates its new “home” in official matches, namely the municipal pool Pietro Giliberti in Terrasini, defeating Onda Forte from Rome 14-11.

It was a non-obvious and well-deserved success. The first three points for the Addaura club in front of a lot of enthusiasm from the audience, who filled the stands. Thanks to a sprint start, with a partial score of 5-1 in the first quarter, Telimar keeps the guests at bay throughout the match, except for some risks in the second part of the game, when the Romans manage to come back to just one length from the Palermitans. However, Baldineti’s men hold on and, with a good dose of cynicism, close with a three-goal lead with Muscat as the top scorer.

“In the first half of the match – considers Francesco Paolo Lo Cascio, captain of Telimar – we played good quality water polo. In the third quarter, we started to force our hand on the shots. But the three points mattered, and they came. The full stands were a spectacle, they filled our hearts with joy”.

“Onda Forte – adds Marco Baldineti, Telimar’s coach – is a good team, we played two good halves. Then we felt the urge to overdo it. In at least eight actions, we should have thought and not forced the shot. These things come back to haunt you. We were playing against a direct contender. So, these points are precious. Now we face difficult matches, we need to find the right balance and avoid drops in tension like today”.
