Tar rules: 11 Spadafora students must retake Maturità oral exam

The oral exams of the Maturity for a class of the scientific high school Galileo Galilei in Spadafora need to be redone. This decision was made by the Administrative Court of Catania, which completely rejected the appeal filed by the students, citing grave irregularities. The case started when a student’s family, represented by lawyer Maria Chiara Isgrò, decided to appeal the final results of the Maturity. A regional education office conducted an inspection and found significant irregularities, leading to the annulment of the oral exam. Initially, the regional office had set the exam date for September 20, where eleven students from the linguistics department were called to retake the exam with a completely different examination board. However, this decision prompted another appeal from students who were satisfied with their Maturity results. In response to their appeal, the Administrative Court suspended the regional education office’s decision and will further examine the case. Now, the decision of the Administrative Court has been issued, rejecting the appeal and requiring the exams to be redone. It is unclear whether the students will challenge the decision.
