Taormina (Messina) – Taormina Film Fest and Videobank together again for the next three years, under the aegis of the Taormina Arte Sicilia Foundation and the Regional Department of Sports and Entertainment Tourism, to continue writing the history of one of the film festivals most long-lived and prestigious international in Europe. The 66th edition, which will take place from June 28 to July 4, 2020, will see the work of an artistic committee – already at work in the programming – framed in the wake of the enhancement of the only historical events in Taormina and the "philological" request already undertaken by the production chaired by general manager Lino Chiechio and sole director Maria Guardia Pappalardo.
To direct the festival with the usual enthusiasm, Leo Gullotta, Sicilian icon in the world just back from Joe Pesci's dubbing in Martin Scorsese's "The Irishman". It is instead a return to the origins for the director Francesco Calogero – historical collaborator of the festival, already organizer of the retrospectives and editor of the catalog under the artistic direction of Guglielmo Biraghi and Sandro Anastasi, then also conductor of the meetings with the authors in the subsequent editions directed by Enrico Ghezzi – who is entrusted with the competitive categories of the Official Selection.
