Syracuse at 47.6 degrees: the hottest provinces on the island fighting against the fire.
#Siracusa
According to meteorologists, the heat in Sicily would have its hours counted, but the one that still envelops the Island remains an unprecedented heatwave, with temperatures reaching incredible peaks. At 2 p.m., the record was reached in Siracusa with 47.6 degrees, followed by various areas in Catania and the same city: on provincial road 104, temperatures reached 45.7 degrees. These are the measurements from the regional Department of Civil Protection network, which is continuing to constantly monitor the situation, which has become even more critical with the numerous fires that are bringing the Island to its knees. Also at 2 p.m., Palermo reached 43.4 degrees, while Messina reached 43.1 degrees. Throughout the region, temperatures are mostly above 40 degrees, with Caltanissetta reaching 42.4 degrees at the same time. In these same provinces, there are also continuous blackouts.
The Civil Protection warns the mayors again, and here are the recommendations that are being reiterated: activate the Coc, Municipal Operational Centers, and prepare air-conditioned rooms to accommodate, even in the hottest hours, fragile or more vulnerable individuals who do not have air-conditioned homes (use sports halls, conference rooms, gyms, parts of supermarkets, council chambers, etc.) Secondly, the Civil Protection asks mayors to activate volunteer associations to assist those in difficulty, including possible transportation services to and from home. Furthermore, it is necessary to inform the public about behavioral norms and the subsequently made available locations. It is recommended to avoid outdoor events during the hottest hours, better to postpone them to the early morning or evening. Finally, it is necessary to maintain contact with operational structures for any emergencies and inform the Civil Protection of the activation of the Coc.
