In occasion of the summer solstice, the 38th Parallel Pyramid of Fiumara d’Arte will exceptionally open its doors on the weekends of June 22-23 and 29-30, from 4 pm to 6:30 pm. Located on top of a hill in the municipality of Motta d’Affermo, this majestic 30-meter high sculpture, created by Mauro Staccioli, offers a unique spectacle when the sun’s rays at sunset pass through it, symbolizing peace and beauty along the 38th parallel.
The Pyramid is part of Fiumara d’Arte, the largest Land Art museum in Europe, conceived by Antonio Presti along the ancient bed of the Tusa river. This extraordinary project includes nine works by internationally renowned artists, transforming the area into a center of contemporary art that attracts visitors and enthusiasts from all over the world. Presti’s vision has dedicated his life to transforming landscapes and communities through art, creating beauty in anonymous and forgotten places and inviting people to rediscover the value of art as a tool for hope and transformation.
During the special openings, visitors can participate in the Rite of Light, crossing a tunnel that leads them from darkness to light, representing a symbolic journey towards enlightenment and meditation. The Pyramid, with its penetrating light, invites everyone to reflect on the power of art as a tool for connection and inspiration. Antonio Presti, artist and patron, states: “The summer solstice at the Pyramid is a moment of deep connection with nature and art. It is an experience that renews the spirit and invites reflection.”
