Students in Partinico are deeply moved by the relic of Judge Rosario Livatino

The diocesan Feast of legality welcomed the relic of judge Rosario Livatino at the Felicia and Peppino Impastato Scientific High School in Partinico. Approximately 250 students gathered in the school’s auditorium for a reflective listening of words of justice that were eagerly awaited and desired.

The event began at 11 a.m. when the relics of Blessed Rosario Livatino were welcomed accompanied by the hymn that has always supported young people at the World Youth Days, Jesus Christ you are my life. After the welcoming greeting from school principal Lucia La Fata, the students listened to the diocesan president of Catholic Action Benedetto Caruso, professor Giuseppe Savagnone, magistrate Domenico Gozzo and deputy prefect Giuseppina Addelfio, mayor of Partinico Pietro Rao, and professor Santagati.

The event was an opportunity to structure the annual reflection on legality around the figure of the magistrate that takes place between Partitico, Cinisi, and Borgetto. The title, taken from the experience of the young judge, “Credible in Charity and Justice” primarily involved students and teachers. Archbishop of Monreale, Monsignor Gualtiero Isacchi, highly appreciated the interventions, saying, “push towards courageous and generous commitment in the field of society – where they want to be builders of justice and peace, as citizens, workers, students, administrators, taxpayers, consumers, magistrates, priests, housewives, etc. according to charity and justice, and evangelical credibility. Disengagement from politics, social commitment, and the duty to vote is disengagement from faith: it is a faith that stops where problems begin, that self-limits, that is cultivated only in a closed environment, that renounces to manifest its strength in fundamental vital areas. The question that immediately arises, however, is: in what way? With what criteria of understanding and action, especially in the complexity of today’s world? With what reference values? And with what authentic motivations?”

In the afternoon, at 4 p.m., the relic will be taken to the Diocesan Sanctuary of Blessed Pina Suriano in Partinico, to which the diocesan association of Catholic Action is dedicated. At 7:30 p.m., the March of legality will start from the Sanctuary of the Blessed in Partinico, “an act of public testimony in which the diocesan Church symbolically testifies to the choice of charity as the soul for justice and legality to be lived in our territory,” reads a note from the archdiocese. At 4:30 p.m. in the Mother Church of Borgetto, the reflection on the two-day event will be further explored by two teachers: Rocco Gumina and Giuseppe Verde.
