Stromboli fire during Rai fiction leads to rejection of plea deal for two defendants

A request for a plea bargain was denied by the judge in the trial for damages caused by a fire during a Civil Protection fiction. Two defendants, Matteo Levi and Luca Palmentieri, had requested to plea bargain, but the judge deemed the agreed upon penalty to be inappropriate. The six defendants, including Levi and Palmentieri, are accused of environmental disaster after fires and heavy rains affected the island of Stromboli. The investigation was led by the Carabinieri of Stromboli and the Milazzo police in cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto.
