Intercity is the Main Partner of the Taormina Film Festival, now in its 70th edition, scheduled from July 12 to 19. At platform 25 of Roma Termini station, a film called “A 70-year-long film: Intercity train” dedicated to the event was presented, in the presence of Trenitalia President Stefano Cuzzilla, Intercity Business Director Domenico Scida, Extraordinary Commissioner of the Taormina Arte Sicilia Foundation Sergio Bonomo, Tourism, Sport and Entertainment Assessor of the Sicilian Region Elvira Amata, and actress, writer, and producer Chiara Francini.
“We are proud to present this Intercity train dedicated to the Taormina Film Festival, one of the oldest film festivals in Italy. The connection between trains and cinema has ancient roots and, with this partnership, we further concretize Trenitalia’s commitment to supporting culture in all its forms, connecting territories and people to their passions,” said Trenitalia President Stefano Cuzzilla.
The special Intercity train of Trenitalia, the lead company of the Passenger Pole of the FS Group, personalized with portraits of the most famous national and international actors and directors, will connect Rome and Sicily starting from today, July 4, until September. Inside the train carriages, there will be additional photos and colors and graphics from the exhibition, creating an immersive experience for passengers. During the journey, the two semi-trains will split when crossing the Strait of Messina, heading to Palermo and Siracusa, spreading cinematographic art in the widest possible way. Currently, there are 4 Intercity Day and 6 Intercity Night trains that arrive daily in Sicily, ensuring accessibility and territorial continuity.
Traveling to Sicily with Intercity will give the opportunity to benefit from a 10% discount on the ticket price for entry to the Taormina Film Festival and any event scheduled by the Taormina Arte Sicilia Foundation. Through the partnership with the Taormina Film Festival, Trenitalia confirms itself as a company that connects people to their passions, such as cinema and culture, promoting a sustainable travel mode to reach the Sicilian territory.
